Getting A Massage - What Could Go Wrong?

For the neophyte, getting a massage, especially a gay massage could seem intimidating. Even a regular therapeutic massage could become awkward at any moment. Here are some of the more typical situations that people think of.

Erections. The most frequent question I get about awkward moments during massages is about erections. Erections happen even in regular therapeutic massages. They are a common reaction to the body being touched and some men are more sensitive than others. Getting an erection is not always the result of becoming aroused. Sometimes you can get an erection just from willing yourself not to get hard…and that’s exactly what happens in spite of your efforts. Don’t worry about it, you will not shock your masseur. Instead, relax and enjoy your massage. If it’s a sensual or erotic massage, you’re in luck!

Stripping. Does one undress completely or leave the underwear on? Really it up to you. Most massages, especially gay massages, are done nude, so don’t think you’ll be the first to undress completely. Besides, you wouldn’t want your nice underwear to accidentally get massage oil on them.

Dozing off. Many people fall asleep during a good relaxing massage session. It’s what many masseurs would like to happen especially with a Swedish/Relaxation/Classic massage. It just means you’re very relaxed. And you don’t don’t miss out on the benefits of massage because you fell asleep. But what if you start snoring or drooling? That’s just par for the course. Your masseur is not going to embarrass you for it and probably won’t even mention it. It happens more often than you think. If you end up sleeping through the massage, your masseur knows how to gently wake you up.

Looks. Some think they’re too fat, too hairy, too skinny, not attractive… Thankfully, most masseurs know how to see beyond your looks. Those who are judgmental generally don’t do very well. None of the above mentioned issues are problems to the masseur, so start learning to love your body. And don’t avoid getting a massage because you’re the ‘wrong look’. It doesn’t exist.

Rumbling. Everyone experiences a rumbling stomach. Some more than others, but it’s a very normal thing as humans. A massage can help with digestion and trigger certain movements. If your stomach makes those weird rumbling noises, it could be an indication that the massage is working. You’re supposed to be relaxing, so don’t try to hold it in and clench. If it’s a fart that needs to be expelled, or you need to urinate, excuse yourself to the bathroom and then you can continue your massage in peace.

Sensitive areas. If you’re sensitive or ticklish in certain areas, be sure to let you masseur know in advance so you’re not giggling and squirming each time he touches you there. For some people, it’s their sides, or the soles of their feet. Do not clench and hold on, as this defeats the purpose of your massage. Your masseur can easily adjust his touch to counter that.

Benjamins. Money talk can be pretty uncomfortable, so try to keep it at a minimum. Don’t ask your masseur for a discount when you arrive at the studio, and please take out enough cash before your appointment if you’re paying by cash. Don’t start counting your bills in front of the masseur. Have the money ready. What about tips? Tips are not expected, but your masseur would be happy with a tip and appreciate it. But unlike in a restaurant, your massage cost is all-inclusive.

So, what’s the worst that could happen?
